Our Story

Shining House Cleaning Services of Brooklyn, NY began in 2014, working out of Bushwick at a point when the neighborhood was changing quickly and most cleaning companies were still treating it as somewhere to drive through. We took the opposite view. 7,500+ cleans and a 5.0-star rating from 150+ clients later, we're still based on DeKalb Avenue and still working the same set of blocks.

Two things about north Brooklyn shaped how we operate. The first is the housing. A converted warehouse off Johnson Avenue with fifteen-foot ceilings, exposed brick and steel-sash windows is a genuinely different job from a three-family wood-frame house near Maria Hernandez Park, which is different again from a Mathews row house in Ridgewood with its original tile vestibule intact. We carry extension poles and brush heads for the first, neutral soaps and patience for the others, and we quote each of them for what they actually take.

The second is that a large share of the homes here are shared. Roommates in a three- or four-bedroom, tenancies that turn over one room at a time, and households where nobody wants to be the person chasing everyone else for money. So we built the practical answers in: split invoicing so each roommate pays their own share, common-areas-only visits that skip bedrooms entirely, and single-room turnovers when one person moves out. None of that is an unusual request here, and none of it should require a negotiation.

The rest is straightforward. Rates are set for north Brooklyn rather than borrowed from Manhattan, quoted before we start and unchanged afterwards. There's no stair surcharge, which matters in a neighborhood of walk-ups. Every cleaner is background-checked, insured and bonded. And if we miss something, we'll be back within 24 hours to redo it at no cost. After 10+ years of doing it this way, most of our new work still comes from someone passing our number to a neighbor.
